Exploring the Beaches of Oxnard: A Local's Guide

Hey there! Are you thinking about moving to the Ventura County coast? Well, let me tell you, Oxnard has some of the most amazing beaches around.

In this video, I'm taking my dog Arthur on a tour of our favorites spots to soak up the sun, play in the sand, and enjoy the beautiful Oxnard coastline....which consists of 11 wide miles of fantastic beaches, surfing, boating and swim spots.

Silver Strand Beach: Fun in the Sun

First stop, Silver Strand Beach! This is a popular spot for a reason.

There's a lifeguard tower, restrooms, and plenty of parking (although it can get crowded in the summer).

It's a great place to catch some waves, and there are restaurants and shops right next door if you need a break from the beach.

Silver Strand is also dog-friendly during certain hours, but be aware that many people bring their furry friends off-leash.

Exploring the Channel Islands Harbor

Next, we're heading to the Channel Islands Harbor.

It's a beautiful spot to walk the boardwalk (adjacent to the Silver Strand Beach), launch your kayak or paddleboard, or just relax and watch the boats go by. And there is the fantastic swimming at the -Kiddie Swim Beach.-

In the summer, the area can get crowded with sea lions, but hey, they're pretty entertaining to watch!

Hollywood Beach: A Local Favorite

Just north of Silver Strand is Hollywood Beach. This area has a lagoon that's perfect for swimming,snorkeling....and there even volley ball courts and a fun local hangout called the Rudder Room.

It's also a great spot for a peaceful sunset and offers more seclusion compared to Silver Strand. Plus, you can bring your dog here during permitted hours.

Ololkoy Beach Park: Voted Best Beach Park!

We can't talk about Oxnard beaches without mentioning Ololkoy Beach Park, recently voted the best beach park in all of Southern California!

This gem boasts a huge grassy area, volleyball courts, BBQ pits, and a paved trail that winds through sand dunes and leads to the beach. And guess what? You don't even have to pay for parking!

Neptune Park: A Hidden Gem

Our last stop is a little hidden gem called Neptune Park. It's a small park with a playground, but the real star here is the wide, beautiful beach.

Park your car, listen to the waves crash, and enjoy the stunning ocean views. Surfers love this spot too.

Bonus Tip: Free Parking!

A big perk of the Oxnard beaches? Free parking! Unlike many other Southern California beaches, you won't have to shell out money every time you want to visit.

So there you have it! These are just a few of the amazing beaches Oxnard has to offer. Whether you're looking for a lively scene, a secluded spot to relax, or a place to enjoy some water activities, Oxnard has a beach for you.

"When we looked at homes together, they took us out into local grocery stores and parks, and Keziah sparked conversations to introduce us to the locals and neighbors. This allowed us to ask questions about the area that could not be answered on a home-buying app or even by other realtors. We were getting honest responses from the actual people who lived there. That feedback was very valuable and helpful!" --Amanda Gurrola (google, Jan 2024)
